Did you know that two-thirds of your brain is made up of fat?? In order to build brain cells you require fatty acids. There are two kinds that are ESSENTIAL and can’t be produced by your body so we must get them from the foods we eat. One is called ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), which is the foundation of omega-3 fatty acids. You can find omega-3s in flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, leafy green vegetables and some fish such as salmon, sardines, mackerel and trout. Omega-3 fatty acids are responsible for reducing inflammation, key for those who suffer from chronic pain such as arthritis, heart disease and cancer.

Many of my friends know that I am quite particular about where I eat. I try VERY hard to avoid chain restaurants. There are many reasons… I don’t eat bar food (nothing deep fried, pre-packaged, etc.), most restaurant food is highly processed (and over-priced), as an entrepreneur I would rather support the independents and most importantly, I like my dining experience to be unique, instead of being treated like every other customer that walks through the door.
