I’m Katie, founder of Sensible Wellness. With nearly 20 years of nursing experience—many of them spent working exhausting 12-hour shifts—I know firsthand the toll long days can take on the body. I struggled with leg pain, swelling, and the kind of fatigue that made every step feel like I was bleeding into my shoes.
Compression helped me manage my swelling and improve my comfort during long shifts. That personal experience opened my eyes to the needs of people living with cancer-related lymphedema, chronic swelling and compression concerns.
At the recommendation of a nurse in the compression therapy field, I began exploring the unique needs of breast cancer patients. This led me to train in Seattle, WA, where I became a Board-Certified Mastectomy Fitter (ABCOP). That experience gave me the privilege to better support women after mastectomy and lumpectomy—helping them regain both comfort and confidence.
Through Sensible Wellness, I now combine lifestyle medicine principles, lymphedema management, and mobile compression services to make care more accessible across the Lower Mainland. I continue to learn from global lymphedema experts so clients can receive current, evidence-informed support for compression therapy, lymphatic health and post-cancer recovery.
